Video: Spotlight Futaba 7PX radio

Sep 21 2017

Futaba have released a video highlighting their new 7PX 2.4GHz telemetry radio system. The 7PX features Super Response Mode, full telemetry capability and the R334SBS diversity receiver. T-FHSS SR Super Response makes the 7PX the fastest Futaba radio yet, to give drivers a more “locked-in” feel while racing. In addition, the 7PX offers the T-FHSS protocol, which allows full telemetry capability. This radio is also compatible with S-FHSS and FASST protocols, expanding receiver options tenfold.

The innovations don’t stop there. A 4.3” backlit LCD touch screen lets drivers access key features instantly, via intuitively designed menus. When it comes to features, an R334SBS diversity receiver, 40-model memory and updateable software are just the tip of the iceberg. Up to 7 channels can be controlled and programmed. Up to 5 telemetry sensors can be viewed on the main screen for real-time information. Traction control and over-rev functions have been added to complement the ABS function. The 7PX supports high-speed servos—drivers can change the conventional 1,520 µ to 760 µ for SR Mode. The 7PX also adapts the “Return” function to “Throttle,” so drivers can set it with more accuracy.

UK Short Course Nationals report

Sep 20 2017

See: X-Factory UK

X-Factory UK’s season long domination of the UK Short Course Nationals concludes with championship title victories in both 2wd SCT and 4wd SCT. In 4wd, Lewis Williamson (last season’s champion) was in unstoppable form all season long once taking podium finishes at every round and winning with a perfect 1000 point score and securing the outright series title to become National Champion now 2016 and 2017!!! A fantastic achievement for the very talented youngster. Last year’s runner-up and team mate Darren Boyle was 2nd again to complete a superb 1-2 once more for the X-Factory UK team.

The switch by the team this year to the TLR SCTE 3.0 platform was pivotal, in fact X-Factory UK team drivers running the TLR filled 5 of the top 7 positions in the overall series standings – a stunning achievement for the new truck. Lewis topped the series with the perfect 1000 points, with Darren on 991. They were also joined by fellow team mates Jonathan Szymanski (4th), Oliver Szymanski (6th) and Gareth Cutting (7th) all in the top ten to round out a superb year…

In 2wd, Darren Boyle was the only driver to win at more than one round, taking 3 wins out of 7 in the series and securing the outright series title to become National Champion 2017. Last year’s runner-up and team mate Richard Miller was 2nd again to complete a superb 1-2 once more for the X-Factory UK team in both classes.

This year saw 89 racers compete in the series (28 in 4wd and 61 in 2wd) as we travelled to tracks all over the country including EPR (Croydon), Leverton, NWN (Blackpool), Herts, Coventry, Coastal (Ipswich) and A1 RC (Grantham) for the final and soggy round.

Last weekend was held the third round of the South East Queensland Interclub Series held at L.O.R.R.C.C.C., The Brickyard track in Brisbane, Australia. This series always attracts a large number of racers and this event was no different, with well over 100 entries from all over the region, including some of Australia’s best. The two days kicked off with practice and two rounds of qualifying on Saturday. Team Associated driver Alex Bernadzik was able to take the first two qualifiers in both 1/8 nitro and 1/8 E-buggy.

Sunday conditions could not be better — sunny, with little breeze, and the track looking great. During the course of the afternoon, the track held up well, the medium grip clay getting dusty but providing great racing. Legs one and two of E-buggy saw some close battles; however, Alex was able to take the win in front of Darren Perry in second and Mugen’s Aaron Stringer in third.

in Nitro buggy it was a similar story; Alex managed to take the win in the 30-minute A Main from Aaron Stringer in second.

Reedy 550-SL4 sensorless brushless motor

Sep 20 2017

Reedy have introduced the new 550-SL4 sensorless brushless motor for 1/10 4WD RTR. Due to its sensorless 4-pole configuration, the 550-SL4 operates powerfully, efficiently, and reliably in a variety of vehicles and applications. The 3500kV rating provides plenty of speed with 2S LiPo batteries. But install a 3S LiPo battery for insane speeds that are barely controllable! A high-strength rotor provides plenty of torque and resists overheating better than 2-pole alternatives.

Flexible silicone wires ease wire routing in tight spaces and work in conjunction with 3.5mm bullet connectors to reduce power-robbing resistance and heat. Triple insulated windings, a hardened 5mm steel shaft, and oversized ball bearings enhance reliability to keep you out of the pits and on the track.

  • Powerful 4-pole Sensorless design
  • Oversized precision ball bearings
  • High-strength rotor
  • Hardened steel shaft
  • Triple insulated windings
  • Flexible silicone wires
  • Low-resistance connectors
